How confident do you feel now you’re a mum? And I don’t mean how confident at being a mum, but how confident do you feel as a woman now that you are a mum?
Mum confidence… what a thing!
Having children is a wonderful thing. We get to see them grown, learn and see the world in a whole new light through their innocent eyes.
But let’s not beat about the bush, it’s shit for our looks, right? I mean, no sleep, no time, too much caffeine and wine is not a recipe for youthful looks.
There’s a reason why sleep deprivation is a form of torture, right!
And whilst in the grand scheme of things I know it’s a small price to pay, it really can take its toll on our mum confidence.
Before pushing an ankle biter out, we knew where life was going. Hell, I even had a plan 🙂
But when these two “popped” out (said with tongue firmly in cheek!), life seemed to descend into chaos.
And by the time I came up for air, everything seemed to have changed.
For starters, 3 years of no sleep had aged me by 30 years (how does that even happen?!?!?). Everything had headed too far south for my liking and it felt like the world had moved on without me.
Selfish is the mean voice in the back of my head right now, but this is honestly how I felt.
But becoming a mum had really knocked my confidence.
I no longer felt like me anymore.
I felt like I’d lost my identity. And whilst I had a lovely new shiny purpose trying to be the best mum I could be, I felt like I’d lost my purpose as a woman.
Can you relate to this?
So today I’m talking about how to improve our confidence when we feel like shit. Not necessarily how to be more confident as a mum, but how to be more confident as a woman who happens to also be a mum…
